Eating disorders awareness

The earlier someone seeks help for an eating disorder, the better the prognosis for a full recovery.

And that is why the eating disorders organisation Beat is encouraging anyone who is affected by an eating disorder to share their concerns with either a family member or a friend, and to seek help from their GP at the earliest possible opportunity.

There are three main categories of eating disorder: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified (EDNOS) which includes Binge-Eating Disorder (BED).

You can find out more about each condition in the Mental Health and Wellbeing zone and in the useful resources section below.

Eating disorders awareness week runs from February 20–26 and this year the theme is titled break the silence and beat the illness.
