The Scottish Government’s Additional Support For Learning campaign aims to help inform parents and young people (those aged 16+ at school) about their rights to access additional support services under the Additional Support for Learning (Scotland) Act 2004.
Our website aims to provide you with:
• key information about your rights and responsibilities under the Act;
• details of the wide range of issues that may affect a child or young person’s learning
• clear direction that if something is affecting their learning you have the right to ask your school or Local Education Authority for additional support.
We know that without some extra help some children will not benefit fully from school education. That is why in Scotland, all children have a right to receive the additional support that they require to meet their individual needs.
Parents also have rights that give them more of a say in their child's education as well as more opportunities to express views about the support they feel that their child needs.
