All good charity campaigns need a soundtrack and the STV Appeal is no exception. The stunning Take You There has been created by Celtic boy band Mànran in partnership with Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus and music legend Phil Cunningham.
Take You There will be available to download from August 26 and looks set to become a classic. Of the download price, at least 40p goes directly towards the STV Appeal. More details.
Mànran, the six-piece band who are taking the Scottish music scene by storm with their Gaelic/English songs, jumped at the chance to make a single with Michelle.
“The boys were fantastic and got on board straight away and all that was left to do was find someone to produce the single,” she told the Evening Times.
“ There was only one man on my wish list but as he's on everyone's wish list to work with I knew the chances of getting Phil Cunningham were about as hopeful as getting myself bikini-ready for the summer, if it ever shows up. But, as luck would have it, I met the great man for a coffee and he agreed straight away.”
Talented singer/songwriter Michelle, who is also hosting the Dance Marathon, had already teamed up with Mànran to make a documentary for BBC Alba.
Mànran is a group of talented young men who are shaking up the traditional music scene by bringing it bang up to date and taking it to a whole new audience. Their single Latha Math was a mainstream hit last year.
The STV Appeal, now in its second year, will raise money to help the thousands of children in Scotland who live in poverty.
STV Appeal is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, number SC042429
